Here's the story in the BostonGlobe.com.
Apprently, ticketreserve.com has a system set up to trade options on the right to buy tickets at face value on a particular team for a particular event. For example, people had the opportunity to trade options to buy Super Bowl tickets if the Bears got there (I don't know if one could sell short).
A few thoughts came to mind when I saw this:
- looks like a betting exchange to me, maybe there is profit potential there
- will the SEC, the NFL and the DOJ have a problem with this website?
- I'll have to bookmark the site and take another look come March Madness.
